He Was...

Contributed by Jeanetta on Saturday, 11th September 2004 @ 07:39:15 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

He was my first love.
You know, the one person who makes your heart beat
just like "that" for the first time?
Yeah that was him.
And daily, I anticipated that feeling he would give me
When I saw his face
When he looked into my eyes.
When he kissed me like so....
He was my first love.

He was my friend..
You know, the one person who you could tell anything to?
You share the most important parts of your life with?
Yeah that was him.
And daily, I couldn't wait to talk about the latest happenings
the latest dances
The latest ways of being "cool".
He was my friend.

He was my enemy.
You know, the one person who either hurt you or you hurt them?
The one who sometimes you wished some of the worst things upon?
Yeah that was him too.
And daily I was seethe inside from the ways that we both hurt each other
The harsh words
The evil looks.
He was my enemy.

He is...
someone who is still around.
And although he was my enemy,
somehow friendship has prevailed.
And I will always love him.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
