Winter's wake

It is morning
In winter's wake
Cold and frozen
You cling to my bones
I fear every dream of you
Will follow into a reality
How brutal
How honest
How unyielding in your truth
I have no escape
In a slumber
In a conscious state
You test me at every turn
Of my day
You seperate me from the light of it
And my being
You creep into my sleep
And smother me
With the sheets of decay
Oh how I longed for you
Now I just ache to forget
I open my eyes, wide
Staring blankly
It is one more morning
And still you have not left me
You will hollow me out
And haunt me
Every step of the way
The ghost of a love
I cannot shake
In a winter's wake.

Love it. It feels so desparate, which is a good thing.
Cold and frozen
You cling to my bones
These are my favorite lines.

I adore this poem . . . so many good lines, I can't quote them all, so I won't even try. Hopeless, raw, poignant, and beautiful . . . funny, that sounds like a perfect description of winter, to me (and, just to take the irony a little further, I love winter . . . heh). Anyhow, great job, sending positive thoughts 'n' such your way :).
