Shattered Reflections

Contributed by pixie on Saturday, 11th September 2004 @ 12:24:42 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

In my mirror are shattered reflections,
Of my not so perfect complexion,
Can’t see the beauty that you can see,
Maybe it’s hidden away deep inside me.

I asked the mirror on the wall,
Do you always watch me as I fall?
Why don’t you give me some warning,
So I know when my heartaches dawning.

The person who looks back from inside,
Looks like she has fought with the tide,
Eyes vacant like the night sky,
Yet too stubborn to let herself cry.

Her heart has become somewhat immune,
From all the ***** that it’s had to consume,
Day after day & year after year,
I let myself be ruled by anger & fear.

I’m not the girl that people imagine,
With my story they’d not know how to begin,
To the outside world I am a mere actor,
A pretty young face hiding an emotional disaster.

Very gentle emotional look into a mirrow, I watched the mirror on the wall, go from mirror to portrait in the attic, not of sins and ugliness, but sickness.......even to the eyes, so no more a mirror do I look, but deep inside where the true light lives. Through my minds eye.

Thank you for sharing.

Hey Pixie...
Reminds me of a poem I wrote called the Beauty Lies Deep Within...
I love ur use of the mirror... as some one else said "very reflective and thought provoking"
This is very raw and deep to me... great job!!!
Keep writing ... and thaks for sharing this one.
