911 Remembered

9/11 Remembered
~~~
A plane hit the tower
On an early September morn
Sitting at work in my chair
My heart was completely torn
Panic on the ground
Planes in the sky
Victims looking up to heaven
Asking themselves why
Then in another state and town
A plane hits the ground
Brought down by brave men
Sadly no life could be found
In the governing town of Washington
The had an attack of their own
Loss of life from this act
At the time was unknown
In a cloud of dust and steel
The two towers came tumbling down
I could hear it on the radio
In my office no one made a sound
How could this have happen?
What kind of evil lives within?
These terrorists with no heart
Actually thoughts they could win
In what was our darkest hour
We should courage, compassion and love
We committed to work together
Guided by the good Lord up above
We doctored the weak
Buried the dead
Listen to our leaders
And believed in what they said
We brought vengeance upon our attackers
Chased then into the ground
The lowest place on earth
Where who’s left could be found
This nation stuck together
Each one working in one accord
Donating time and money
The most one could afford
We risen from the ashes
Should patriotism the terrorists feared
Yet when we look back
Our nation is in tears
It was our worst hour, yet our best hours
It should what Americans are all about
Proud, determined and resolute
Heads high and standing stout
Today I sit in that very same chair
In my office down the hall
I’m listening to the remembrance on the radio
As a tear starts to fall
This is excellent, Jeff. In time of need America always bands together regardless of our own civil disagreement. We are a proud. strong and united nation.
very good poetry jeff, it was about 2 in the afternoon in England when the first plane hit, i had just finished work then the second one crashed it was then i realised this was no accident.
I can remember the revulsion i felt at other world tragedies Dunblane etc, but this just shocked me to the core. I will pray tonight for the family and friends of those lost loved ones in this terrible tragedy.
