Love Letter To A Garden

Contributed by NikkiiBabii on Friday, 10th September 2004 @ 08:04:12 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Today I had a thought, dear garden,
that I'd take a small walk through your daisy lined pathways
and watch sweet honeybees
dip into candied flower centers.

And on my walk, I'd meet an aura of truth,
a promising glow, enlightened with youth.
And we'd speak of life and love,
as the sunrays kissed our skin.

Oh, you do smell so sweet garden, like a sugar soaked plum,
and you've always been my refuge when I've felt alone.
And so this love to you,
I need and want to owe.

I love you, garden, in every state you present yourself in,
for each seasons brings its flares
and gifts, and each time, I am nothing,
but truly enchanted.

Chipmunks hide within your pastel spring tulips,
and four leaf clovers grace us with good fortune.
The breeze lightly sways and coaxes the tree branches
to whisper their songs.

Each sweet summer morning, the sun beams down,
marigolds and roses smile up,
touched by pure warmth, and exude a contentness
that seems so beyond reach.

Golden pink kissed leaves, outlined in the moonlight,
taunt the night sky, and fall is surely here.
The air is as mysterious as it is loving, softly enveloping
my skin and my soul.

And finally, winter blankets you and tucks you away.
But even then, you are alive,
the scintillating crystals that glimmer in the snow
are evident of your playful spirit.

Shimmer raindrops dance and slip atop your leaves,
dear garden, lightly plunging to the soil,
where they play sweet music and provide a source
of everlasting life to the earth.

And in the chilly mornings, when I awake,
frost covers you, so innocent, so vulnerable, garden,
each flower bowing down, awaiting the sunrise
to melt away all insecurities.

The sun slightly wakes you, each insect,
each leaf and stem, each delicate, tender petal,
as you smile dear garden,
and worship its rays.

When the night comes, you escape into the darkness,
your sanctuary, your resting place,
for in the morning, garden,
you will rise yet again.

Oh garden, you've been so good to me,
you've endured so many changes, so many conditions,
yet you are always gleaming with pure bliss and
adorning the world with boundless tranquility.

You are everything blessed, everything passionate.
When each year dawns,
you surprise me with a fresh devotion, passion,
wildness, and natural ardor.

Every aspect of you holds its own astounding brilliance,
each promise you've made,
you've always kept.
Oh how lucky I am, dear garden, to be so loved.

Oh how lucky I am, dear garden, to simply love you.

You have a great insight for a 15 yr old. This was a little long but I read with anticipation each verse that followed! That means it was very well thought provoking and wonderfully written. I have a few poems on "gardens" too.
Not as long mind you, but insightful nonetheless. Keep on writing and posting. I look forward to more of your work.
Angel always...godspeed...joni
