To the muse
To the muse –
And as this life will one day fade
As dusk to blackened night,
And from this darkness…the merest blink eternal,
We are born again
A coming day.
May I pause within times swift and sudden passage
And sing for you this prayer
My muse –
May I pray upon a single
Gesture,
A soft caress…so tender,
So sweet upon my hand.
May your breath rise and part
The holy veil of whispers
And sweep my dreams to far
And distant lands.
And may your passing mystery
Pause
And linger
As full and silent
As kiss.
May my imagination
Flourish
Within your briefest
Glance.
And from your parting touch
A whisper spoken
A whisper
Heard –
May I live once more
Your sweetest
Prayer… “To listen well your loving words.”
