Susie

Contributed by jonteD on Wednesday, 6th November 2002 @ 09:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

As couples hand in hand walk along the street,
I find myself forlorn, tired, lonely and weak,
Whilst others have that certain, knowing smile,
All I have is the memory of being left at the aisle.

Twas a long wait and anxious glances turned to fear,
A lover, my lover, my world, she wasn’t there.
The heart aches, perhaps you know the feeling too,
Within seconds the realisation that life was through.

Even now I see her face when I close my eyes,
See her perfect features, the thought makes me cry,
I’m sorry, but when you find a love for every day,
You just never think she’ll just leave and go away.

Why should I look for someone else, she was right,
Love of course is about together days not just nights,
So excuse if I now look hard and drawn, getting old,
It’s only now that I’ve come to get to have story told.

If you ever meet your perfect woman, please hold on,
Treasure her, tell her your feelings, before she’s gone,
If you have fire in your heart don’t let it be denied,
Because the day we should have married, Susie died.

If this is true I am so very sorry .... how terrible. A very emotional poem. Thank you for sharing.
