An eagle’s feather blows in the wind
Chance blinks and route changes
Perhaps blowing her back to kin
Back to lives lived in unending ages
Moistened by rain and dried in starlight
Feather is carried to distant places
Never resistant to her far flight
Feather bares wisdom of many faces
Days of black and nights of red
Forest enlivened in moon’s pale glow
Tales of the living and songs of the dead
Time overlooking the voyage’s flow
Dusk grows cold as feather dances in sky
The breeze flows on as the rivers run
Earth sings out and feather soars high
Serenely she flies to the setting sun
