Bright smile like a spotlight across the room,
entrancing, blinding from view the darkness
of your past. Brushing your hand with a kiss
as I barter a smile for a sweet minute
of you time. Listening to you speak I realize
your heart is shedding its woeful tears,
its hardened sadness and untold fears.
Holding you with my eyes as light is
shed unto shadows; confronting skeletons,
demons met face to face, and false myths
straightened. So I inquire with a whispered breath,
of all the things you miss, is it not
your sanity you have missed the most?
Now my time is up, I'm sorry this was a bore.
I must leave quickly, as Prince Charming is at the door.
But as I flea your bright smile, a friend I will always be.
