A Prayer With A Tear

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Please God, lead me down your
Golden Road
Take me away from this ghetto
Away from this world.

This world is too harsh
In which I live
It takes lives and dreams
What else do I have left to give ?

My ghetto is full death
Drugs, Sex and Hate
We all hate our own color of skin
When is it going to be to late?

That blood stained bullet
Has taken my homeboy's last breath
We never should have messed with death
Playing our Russian Roulette.

The Cocaine and Heroin
Better known as Chiva and Blow
Killed my first love and
Took my friends soul.

Dear Lord, where I come from
I don't see you beside me
The only footprints I see
Are those of children running to be free.

Too many friends, Christ
Are six feet down or in the Pen.
Why have I made it this far?
When will all this madness end?

This ghetto that I live in
Kills children and takes their lives
Falls them victim to drugs or gangs
Please help them open their eyes.

Please God, lead me out of this life
Wait for me at the Crossroads
Beacuse my final light , Lord
Has already shone.

Alina I really like this poem. I feel your pain and hurt.
We would all love to hide are childrens or friends away from the gang but this is life and they need to
see what's out there but some people learn the hard way.
