I Can't Imagine...

Contributed by kidpoet_213 on Thursday, 9th September 2004 @ 10:57:13 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

I can't imagine... since I've met you...
What my life would be like... without you...
Without you... being ever so sweet... to me
So kind... so free...
You listen to my every word... no matter how dumb I sound or absurd
I feel as though I've known you... my whole life through
It's like... you've always been there for me... my guiding light
In my darkest nights

This is how I imagine... my life to be...
Just an existence... nothing more... nothing less...
This would be my world... had I not met you...

My life would be on the lonely side of the street
It really wouldn't be living at all
Just existing... in a world about to crumble and fall
A world of pure evil... a living hell
A world full of darkness...
Where there's no light to dispel
Always being afraid of what others think
Always wondering if the next step I take... would lead me to the brink
I would be living life on the edge...
That thin red line... between... sanity and death
A place that can stab you... more times than you can count...
With it's dull bloody knife...
This definitely would have been my life...
If I had not met you...

You can't imagine... to know my pain...
All that which I keep bottled up inside...
Hidden and tucked away
Behind all the tears and heartache in my this life of mine
Behind all the scars... cut deep... with that dull bloody knife
Not only those without...
But also those carried within

No... you can't imagine... my friend... to know how it feels...
To know all the hell... I've been through
To walk a country mile in my shoes
It's no life...
It's no fun...
It's no dream...
To live life under the gun

There is one thing you'd probably tell me...
And really you already have...
We all have our unique shoes to walk in...
No one less important than the other... my friend
We all live our lives with a smile or frown...
But walk a country mile in my shoes...
And see the hell I've found...

I can't imagine... since I've met you...
What my life would be like... without you...

Donna... I surely have tears in my eyes... you mean so much to me... and this poem shows it from my perspective... I never thought I would ever run into a person like you. You are so kind and willing to give all you have to those you love. You are now a big part of my life and I think I really have known you forever. I am so honored to be one of your 'adopted' nieces... So glad to be one of the many that you willingly give your love too. When you answer my phone calls and you know I am not okay, or you know that something has happened you are right there by my side, and I know that you will never give up on me... no matter how stubborn I am... LOL. Our friendship is something I hold close to my heart and I will never forget it. Wow... I'm making this to long, I'll shut up now... because as long as this may be, it'll never be able to express what I feel for you and our friendship in this small space.
I love you sooo much
and thank you for the poem, wonderful write babe.

~Deanna

Wonderful. Maybe come up with a more original title to go with this poem?

I'm sure your friend will love this.
