Scars

Scars
Knife
Pain
no burn
no gain
can’t explain
self-mutilation
no instigation
just hurt
face in the dirt
feelings dark
laid out stark
and bare
people just stare
at the mementos
of the grief
and the pain
pours down like rain
call me a freak
who are you to speak
inside you are deformed as well
everyone has their own personal hell
that they deal with every day
but sometimes the hell stays
and nothing can be done to cool the burn
so to the knife and fire I turn
to ease the ache of everyday hell
each scar a story tells
this one anger, this one grief
this one heartbreak, this one pain
in each I nothing gain
but a reminder of the cruelty of living
everyone taking, no one giving
so I tattoo my body with this litany of pain
in hopes to obtain
some understanding of why you judge
and point the finger
and why on me your eyes linger
are we so different you and I
you hold it inside, I choose to cry
and to take the hurt away
my way, but the scars stay
yours on the inside, mine to never fade away.

Very Emotionally written, and yes we all have our own dark fears to hide.
Beatifully composed and it opened my eyes to the pain many bare, and also hide very well.
Thank you for sharing.

Wow...
This just flows absolutley perfectly. I just had to keep reading.
I understand. I guess we all have our scars, be they on the inside or on the outside.
The only thing i would otherwise say is, that you may need to add a few more capitals.
But otherwise a great write.
Many hugs,
Phil xxx
