I Met Me a Sea Maid
September 8, 2004
Ma' Lady, do me th’ good deed of sharing a drink?
Seems I've been waiting for someone like you to come 'long
And I jus' can't let you slip away, say
Haven't you got th’ heart to stay?
Las’ night I think I dreamt of you…
With ya’r locks th’ color of brandy,
And eyes reflectin’ shallow sea blue.
But in th’ dream, you hadn’t legs, no
Th’ tail of sea maid you did! Bright an’ sandy,
Completin’ th’ look, th’ look that made ya’ glow.
Ma’ dear, I think I know ya’ well,
Ya’r name resides just far,
Enough for this lad to wonder how,
It seems I know who ya’ are.
Ma’ precious, please don’t leave me here,
If it is ya’r please to go,
Then take me with ya’ on th’ journey,
I feel awaits for us to know.
Say, have ya’ dreamt of me, a’ tal?
Behind ya’r mornin’ dew eyes?
Well, nevermin’, it doesn’t matter,
S’ long as ya’ stay to talk an’ let our love arise,
Or maybe jus’ th’ latter?

I loved this! I think my attraction to it lies in the way you had the sailor narrate it, the accent of his words. It's great!
