The Wait in the Wood

Contributed by luinil on Tuesday, 7th September 2004 @ 06:01:54 PM in AEST
Topic: mystical

Gentle rain stills earthly sound
Hope mirrored in a gathering pool
Forcibly hidden, waits to be found
Moon in daylight, naivety’s fool

Sleepless day in lustrous night
Staggers across borders of sane
With weeping eyes, awaits the sight
Of bringer of footsteps in the rain

I might argue a bit with your choice of structure, perhaps with your rhytm and flow and most certainly it is a bit short to really capture the essence of the moment you are here portraying. But all in all and all those comments aside, I must admit that there is a suddeness to this poem which triggers a giddy sensation in the heart and brain as if one is the one waiting at that moment and in the face of the unknown. In an intrinsic wy you really do inscribe here a powerful spell, for a metaphor at least, which does conjure the image of a girl waiting in the woods... wondering what will the 'footsteps in the rain' bring.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
