Fallen into lies

Contributed by lostinmyself on Tuesday, 7th September 2004 @ 12:48:07 PM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

I miss you, that's all there is to say,
A box of memories the only thing that now remains,
Of our friendship that used to be my everything, my life,
It has fallen into nothing, fallen into lies.

I've been seaching for answers I know I will never find,
Why this happened, why it changed-- I will never know why,
But I will hold on to the photo's, the memories of words said,
Never pushing away the thought of you, never losing you again.

I once hid everything I saw of you, throwing it from sight,
Never again playing our songs, for fear of angry respite.
I would throw away once happy things, that now just make me sad,
Never wanting to trust, to love again, after losing what we had.

But now, clutching our old photo's, tears within my eyes,
I know our friendship is over, but these memories are mine,
And all of these recollections, these pains I hid away,
I couldn't hide them forever, they're back in my purse today.

And I wonder if you think of me, like I do think of you,
When I walk past and you see me, do you remember these things too?
And wonder as you may, but we shall not speak again,
Our friendship is over, our time together, spent.

And though these happy memories will always make me sad,
I know I will always keep them, they are all I have,
I will hold them close, although my heart may cry,
But never again shall I say goodbye.

They are all I have before the time,
I fell into your lies.

It always hurts to lose someone close to you and memories are very precious... even if they are sad ones. This is excellent!

Why is letting go nearly impossible sometimes? I don't know. I have lost good friends, and I mourn them still. What happens to our friendships? Why do they change so irreversibly? These questions always haunt me. This is a very thought-provoking write, my friend.

First....I love the picture that you decided to
post....it is very Beautiful! You're poem is
absolutely wonderful. I can completely relate.
I have been pondering for the past couple months on my past and how everything changed so suddenly because of one simple person. Ironic....how everyone feels this way at one point in their life....Keep writing...your poem has given me some closure to what I've been pondering and to my memories.

This brought tears to my eyes and I wish I could give you a big hug. I felt so much hurt in your poem, and loss.

It is beautifully written but I feel there is so much more to this piece. It just cries out and is so full of heart.

I am here if you want to talk, okay?

"I fell into your lies."

Thats anathemic to 'fell into your eyes'. I think this poem is everything a broken friendship feels like and then some. I've been the bereft, and I've also, in the past, been the liar, so I guess I can take both sides here.
I would expect time changes perspectives somewhat - and your question;

"do you remember these things too?"

May be spoken sometime in the future.

Good write,
Thanks for sharing it,.

This is a beautiul poem......not sad, but makes me think....yes to see things of memory and love the memory more.....but to let the lies be cast aside....and dream from what I felt, because in my heart I lived in truth, no mater how they lived. What maters in such times is only in our hearts.

Thank you for sharing this.

Pain and loss are two of the hardest things to embrace in life, but such is life. We must embrace it and only through memories may we realize the depth of the pain we endured. Yes your friend thinks of you, you're stored in his/her memory just the same as they are in yours. Find comfort in that. A little comfort?
((((((((Phil)))))))) Love your emotional writes, what am I saying they are ALLLL emotional,we're poets dagnammit!!! lol
Be well...and gosdspeed...joni

"And I wonder if you think of me, like I do think of you,
When I walk past and you see me, do you remember these things too?"

These lines say it all... You're hurt, you're angry and you know it's over, but still...

Magnificent piece of work!
Hugs,
Hur
