BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON

By the light of the moon
its narrow beams of pale radiance
illuminating the darkness of night
solitude of unpercepted depth
sulking among the dense woods
venturing forth into the lengths of mystery

By the light of the moon
its bashful face gleaming
improprieties of the heart
unrequitted desires own the night
victims of passion yielding
bowing before the will of nature

By the light of the moon
and its warchful eyes
ever guardian of raptured souls
piercing arrows of light, reason, truth
bounding between shadows
throwing caution to the wind

By the light of the moon
its universal design
giver of revelations and dreams
plucking at heart strings
lovers of the night it romances
dancing with shadows coy

By the light of the moon
its narrow beams of pale radiance
illuminating the darkness of night
(who may tell what lies,
what the night may hold -
to its bosom cloaked)
solitude of unpercepted depth
sulking among the dense woods
(will it give us up of our sinful pleasures,
or enshroud with its arms of secrecy?)
venturing forth into the lengths of mystery

By the light of the moon
I wait, anxious for you love
for the mment the light dances
in the presence of your grace
and the sweet air carries forth
the sensous scent of your being

By the light of the moon
illusions pray on desperate souls
as night melts into morning
hearts sink with thoughts of goodbye
bodies entwined, unwilling to part
promises of everlasting love betrayed

By the light of the moon
the earth shakes with a kiss
of our lips, of dancing light on water
departing bliss as day breaks
night's guilty pleasures unknown
but for a whisper in the day's winds

By the light of the moon
its narrow beams of pale radiance
illuminating the darkness of night
solitude of unpercepted depth
sulking among the dense woods
venturing forth into the lengths of mystery
