She asked me what I was doin' here
Sittin' at the bar
Suckin' down the beer
Lookin' like my best friend
Had just died
Told her I'd come in to ease the pain
Was gonna sit here
Til I can't recall my name
Then I'll pack my bags, hit the road
And fly
I'm gonna leave the past behind me
Gonna head on down the road
Where I end up
I guess only the good lord knows
Maybe I'll find someone to lean on
Maybe someone will lend a hand
But until then
I'll be just another broken man
She told me things can't be all that bad
Prob'ly took for granted
Every thing you had
One day you woke up
And they were gone
Now you think you can run and hide
Wrap yourself up
Inside your foolish pride
But I've been there and
I know that you're wrong
You can't leave the past behind you
No matter how hard you try
It'll be there
Every time you close your eyes
You might find some one to lean on
But if you never make a stand
You won't ever be more than
Just another broken man
So we left that bar behind us
And made our way back home
Spent the night
Wrapped up in a fire's glow
We were leanin' on each other
Quietly holding hands
And putting back together
Just another broken man

This song is just so sad... but it's a good write :-) So far, this is the best song lyrics I've come across since I joined YPDC three years back. Good work! |

Very nice. The past is always there for all, but getting on with our lives is a must. Of this I know. |

I look back to my last comment, and I am blushing furiously! I'm so sorry for the rapid note, but it was a dire emergency that I HAD to attend to. Please forgive me! lol... I will start again from where I left off... Truly amazing, the way you weave words! Inspirational, enchanting, and incredibly sad! The ending, as I stated before, was very touching... You create such beautiful songs! Are you a musician? If you aren't, you should be! Extravegant piece, perfect! I loved this! Thank you for sharing! All my love and blessings, as always! Eternally yours,
Fleur *still blushing!* |

You already have so many comments....but you still deserve more...so here's mine: That was absolutely BEAUTIFUL !! No words can properly describe how this made me feel. This would definetly be a #1 hit on my charts. Love it. This brought me memories and tears. Keep up the talent. Although....this very much reminds me of the song by Lynard Synard "Simple Man". Anyhow.... pure, simple and magnificant.

Awww... the country world would love these lyrics. Well, any genre, but country just seems to sink their teeth into "the lonely guy" songs. I don't like country but would love to hear the tune that goes with this rhythmic flow of words. I would say "been there, done that" But I'm a gal! lol And lonely IS my middle name! lol
Well done Naz,as always!!!!
Angel always...joni |

I read this, I think, differently then the others who have commented... I don't find it to be too terribly sad. Maybe it's your note on the top - but - this felt like a let-it-go-where-it-wants kind of write. It begins, I think, with quietly contemplating the end of a relationship (I'm guessing a bit...) and turns later - to looking forward, to moving on. (I wonder if you intentionally turned it or if it just came that way..... ).
It is beautiful... and... hopefilled, I think. Granted, maybe I'm interpreting your write with my own experiences in mind - but... I find the "moment" that you captured here to be quite relatable. It is, I think, a very positive moment.
Very well done! I hope you don't mind my pondering on it here...
