I hate the winters here in the county
They make me wanna shred all my memories to pieces
It doesn’t matter what I’m feeling
I’ll just end up down the drain again
And the time on the clock
Makes me remember
How I felt that night in September
When I finally realized
No matter how hard I try
Things will never be how I planned them to be
So long, sweet summer
You gave me hope that lasted
Thanks for those memories
I won’t let myself shred them apart
When they first came, things were all right
Now that I’m with them
The stars shine so bright…
Don’t mind these tears
I don’t know their motive or meaning
But hands down, I swear to you
You’ve made this the best time of my life
Maybe my eyes are flooded
Because these times won’t last forever
As much as I’d prefer them to
And even if when we get there
Our mission fails
I’ll still be content
Until we start driving home
I mean,
Driving back to where they want us to be
Because home is back in California
Where we belong together
