In the distance I see an ice covered mountain
Beautiful and pristine it calls my name
Closer and closer I finally reach its base
And look at it’s now treacherous face
First a hand then another
I leave the comfort of the ground with no other
Farther and farther I climb ice covered rock
The cold starting to numb me through my sock
I press on wanting to reach the top
Feeling my muscles tear and pop
Pain searing my worn flesh
This mountain and I do not mesh
Farther I climb now I can see the peak
From my body my life begins to leak
Strive I do for my one and only goal
No matter the toll it takes on my tortured soul
First one had then another
I reach the top of this icy tower
I gaze around at the beauty around me
I can now finally set my soul free

I like this. The jouney is worthwhile if the view from the top is beautiful. I think I see what you meant about the ending though. Nice write! |
