hope, destiny, and the devil of being

Hope, desire, and the devil of being.
I was walking the path of innocence
With youth and truth at my side.
Wisdom was on down the road,
Always just out of sight.
Desire and fire lit my way,
Hope following far behind.
And the devil he just lay in wait,
Sixty yards to the right.
Lost and struggling to find my fate
Between tenderness and might.
Questions seemed to rain from heaven,
Answers whispered in the night.
Soft hands offer to show the way,
Lead me into the light.
Children’s footsteps echoed in the church,
And hope was wearing white.
Plans and schemes and wild day dreams,
Lead us to great falls.
Now money is short and time is less
And hope won’t return my calls.
In the morning sun when all is done
And I have lost the fight,
Will I find the answers above me,
Or sixty yards to the right?

Yup, I liked this one a lot too, especially how you kept the rhythm so constant most of the way through, great
