SO COLD IS THE FIRE…(©Peter Sprenkeler)
My sadness is exasperating…leaves me spent,
In the mists of uncertainty…my emotions grope.
The storms of discontent rage in my mind,
Answers elusive…forlorn is any hope.
The fire once raged…in the most heated passion,
Cold blackened ash…there in its place now lies.
A cold brutal emptiness…now floods the heart,
The pain horrendous…as a relationship dies.
The soul is numbed…the once vibrant pulse now still,
The former buoyant spirit…now hangs as lead.
An inner voice softly cries…it just cannot end,
Yet reason shouts loudly…and mercilessly proclaims it dead.
And so the war rages…a nightmare of the mind,
Even the physical health begins to wane.
This love once blossomed in the emotional sunshine,
Now it cowers shrivelled…in the shadows of endless pain.
Yet in time…the heart will beat once again,
The resolve will strengthen…and learn to live with death.
Pain will in time ease…but I will never forget,
This woman for a time…completely stole my breath.

I enjoyed your poem immensely... i am hoping after your time of healing that you find a woman with enough magic in her heart to heal the wounds of a broken heart |

Very descriptive of a relationship ending. Nice rhythm. I liked this immensely. I do hope this is of memories past. Peace to you.
