Spring and Summer and Autumn and Winter

Contributed by TheSchroedmeister on Thursday, 2nd September 2004 @ 05:42:47 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Spring and Winter traded places,
Because Spring wanted to feel Lonely,
And Winter wanted to feel young again

But Winter’s snow burned Spring’s feet,
And Winter soon tired of the early year’s heat,
So the woman and the child stayed home

Autumn was always halfway to Lonesome,
And asked Summer for a happy spell, but
Summer was stubborn and stayed where she was,
So Autumn snuck in through the back door
(that sneaky Autumn),
And Summer sent October after her
(She could always try again)

And while Spring played Lonely,
Winter played Young,
And Summer squelched all
Of Autumn’s trite fun,
Nobody on earth seemed to notice

Extremely unique. I really like this piece. It is not one you can just skim through. You really have to read and think about it. Great work.

As always, your characterisations are exemplary, and you always provoke introspection, contemplation and ultimately wonder and pleasure at your unique brand of expression.

I'd like to think you'd submit at least one of your poems to the YPDC anthology - you'd make it a worthy purchase, in my opinion.
