suffocate......then breathe!

Contributed by taintedorange21 on Thursday, 2nd September 2004 @ 12:36:58 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

i've gone blank
nothing but lines on paper
and yet my heart is screaming
to be heard
it's like being underwater
running out of air
and almost drowning
you just can't reach
and slowly you start sinking
the air that seemed so close
now seems miles away
all is getting dark
you feel your heart is gonna bust
if only you could jus reach it
but the wetness from your eyes
mixes with the water
almost as if you're drowning in your tears
and through blurred eyes
the light shines through
reminding you how close death really is
you close your eyes and stop fighting every push and turn
and slowly you become part of it
and as fast as you were ready to let go
it comes to you
that perfect line
yea...sometimes it's like
you gotta suffocate to breathe.

* for some of you it might come so easy, well for me it's a struggle to get "that line" that truly expresses what i'm feeling to the fullest. it's awesome to write it but even more beautiful fall in love with it everytime you read it.

Nothing comes easy. Sometimes I get "the line" but nothing else to surround it - I then call it a title lolol.

Pleased for ya

This poem definitely applies to more than just writers block, but life in general. "sometimes it's like
you gotta suffocate to breathe." Thats great. I love that line. And its so true. What I've found when I can't figure out what to write, is to just leave it alone. Write down ideas, topics maybe that you want to write about and then go do something else. And i keep paper and pencils everywheres. I never know when a great idea is going to strike me and I hate losing something before i get a chance to expand upon it. Just don't try to write, let it flow and you'll find that it comes out much better that way. And i mean even if it isnt that great the first time around, theres always room for improvements later. nothings etched in stone. :)

ahh...the poem of writer's block (slightly ironic i think) I know what you mean...i believe all poets do. But i think you're the only one who has captured writer's block in such a poetic way....i love it
