Sleeping Children Everywhere

I shuffle down the gleaming corridor,
Doors to my left and to my right,
Sleeping children everywhere,
Darkness and the night.
Reflections and shadows on the wall,
Everywhere I turn.
Sleeping children everywhere,
Yet I’m all alone.
I can taste blood in my mouth,
Excitement in my belly,
Sleeping children everywhere,
My feet feel quite unsteady.
Which door to take?
Which room to pick?
Sleeping children everywhere,
Don’t know where to turn.
I pick a room and slither in,
Quiet as a mouse,
Sleeping children everywhere,
Don’t want to wake them up.
I pick up a pillow and place it on his face,
He stirs for a bit, and then sleeps forever.
Sleeping children everywhere,
And I am their God.
But another one wakes up,
And screams and screams some more,
Surely the nurse must have heard,
This is the end for me.
But now she comes, the lumbering, giant ox,
She straps me down,
And drugs me up,
Til I cant feel no more.
Now they’ll never let me out of this place,
And I can’t help no more.
To put the children out of their misery,
And get them out of here.
