Everyone loved you,
But no one knew you at all.
You lived in the spotlight,
But longed for the dark,
You hated the fame,
It tore you apart.
You hated the jobs,
It was all so phoney,
The only reason you did it,
Was for the money.
Tahiti was your paradise,
Your solace from the cold,
Your shelter from the public,
You couldn’t be consoled.
The rumours,
The lies,
The gossip,
They’re all cancer.
The wild dogs of the press
Tore you apart,
Ripped you up,
And spat you out.
You grew old,
No one cared,
You were alone,
You died,
And suddenly people cared,
You were a legend,
A genius, unshared.
They cried for you,
Their false tears of sadness,
They remember your work,
They remember your name.
Time elapses,
And you’ll be forgotten once again,
Sink to the depths of Hollywood,
Trodden on,
And spat out again.
