Today is the day parents long for yet dread,
Eyes fill with tears, little arms outspread.
Comforting pats, lots of hugs to reasure,
Telling their little one "Go play, Mommy's here."
Meeting the teacher for the very first time,
The very first question, "When is lunchtime?"
Learning the rules and how to be polite,
Homework, oh homework, please, not tonight.
The day is over, "Mommy, look what I did."
"I played at recess with the new kid."
"I wrote my name, isn't it neat?"
"The teacher said good and gave us a treat."
The first day butterflies have flown away,
Hopefully tomorrow will be a good day.

Those butterfiles I've felt before also!
My first day of school I threw up on the kitchen floor. My Mother wanted me to stay home.......but I spilled my oatmeal
and ran four blocks all the way.....just to be there for the very first day!
This was great.......how well you relate
Happy days are here again.....School open, and now you have to be too!
Loved it
