Heart Like Chipped Nail Varnish

Contributed by pixie on Sunday, 29th August 2004 @ 12:17:28 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

My heart’s liked chipped nail varnish,
Except hearts much more tarnished,
You can paint over the little cracks,
Bring the once faded beauty back.

You can buy nail varnish with ease,
Paint your nails to which colour you please,
Heart can turn blue or black with no warning,
Wearing heartache as the day is dawning.

Nails can be stripped so bare,
As a heart can feel like there’s nothing there,
Colour can hide all the surface chips,
Forced smiles can cover deep mood dips.

Underneath still lie the scars,
This can’t be seen from a far,
Beauty & radiance shines from you,
No-one could guess your heart’s blue.

Nail varnish comes at quite a cheap rate,
For the same price heart stays in a broken state,
My hearts liked chipped nail varnish,
Except hearts much more tarnished.

Oh, I like this. So many of us fall prey to putting on the facade. Bravo.
