FOR MY WIFE

Contributed by aernby on Monday, 4th November 2002 @ 05:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

*** * ***

When I say so, you act like I’ve flipped,
as if in my dottage I have lost
my tenuous hold on reality, free
falling into the abyss of dementia:
But I still find you beautiful, and desirable
and sexy after all the struggles of 3 kids,
after the turmoil of 30 years of marriage:
the moves, the failures, the estrangements,
the coming back together, the loss of
communication, and its renewal, the unshared
experiences, the crises and the joy the growth.
After all that I still love you as passionately
as a young man but as patiently tenderly
as only a lover of long tenure can love.

Aww this is so sweet
Not many people even last
that long together anymore
Hope she reads this, it's a
beautiful expression of your
love to her.
Great write.

Your wife is a lucky lady. The heart of a poet always reveals his true feeling even when he cannot say them directly. My husband is also a poet and through that I know he loves me even when he can't say it. Your wife always knows how you feel even when you don't say it.

Tenure of the heart breeds longevity of the soul.

A very good write,
