I run

Contributed by mcloysoccer on Saturday, 28th August 2004 @ 08:39:04 AM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

I run,
Absentmindedly now,
Towards the goal of many,
Found by few,
But still found
I find hope in the thought of the very end
I lose track of time
Every step in the wind
No one knows where I’m going
Or where I’ve been
But I run just the same
Nothing leads me to sin
I run from the world
Not knowing at all
Just what to do
I run but still fall
I fall I get up and dust myself off
I fall but I do not get caught up in the dust
The dust of those before me, with me, and behind
The dust of the sinners, the unbelieving, the blind
I do not go where the world has gone
Instead I travel with God’s only son

Jesus Christ leads the way
At times I may not see him
I may go astray
But I will still believe in the father and the son
The Holy Ghost will lead me when there is no one
I still run although slightly distressed
I do not fret for God is my fortress
Strongly smelling of sweet perfume
Never letting me get tied and consumed
I do not let myself get caught up with the world
Instead I run away from the crooked and curled
The sinners may try to lead Christians astray
But we must stand strong for there will come a day
When we will all meet the Father
Stand in front of His thrown
We will all sing to Jesus
He will call us His own

Gather up the sinners
Leave no one behind
For a world forgotten
Is a world for the blind
Do not let satan bring you down
Instead stand firm in your faith
For you stand on holy ground

Let the demons tremble
At the sound of His name
Let them all shout and scream in vain
For the Lord is the power
The all mighty heavenly host
He will not leave you or forsake you
He is the Holy Ghost

No one can forget what cannot be forgotten
The lord Jesus Christ is like a shirt made of cotton
Durable and strong
Surrounding you
He’ll forgive anything
You ask Him to
The one thing in life that hinders many
He will say strongly, “What is there to worry?”
He defeated these things on Calvary
Where He died for you
And He died for me
He died for the hindered
He died for the free
No one can deny His power and strength
He healed many
From death to headaches
He can do all things
Make anything right
He can take on your enemies
When you cannot fight
He conquers what cannot be conquered by men
And He does these things again and again
Over and over He shows his power
Yet men still seem to love and devour
The sinful things this world throws our way
These things that lead us to go astray
I guess that is why I run so quickly
To escape those things that might overtake me
I run to outrun the things of the world
But all I need to do is find strength in the Word
Jesus gives strength to those who are weak
He takes the trouble, the pain, the heartache
If only we looked to Him for advice
Instead of turning to men who act like mere mice
We would not trouble ourselves with sin
We would defy it over and over again

So I stop running,
I look sin in the face
I tell it to leave me
Jesus lives in this place!

I watch as sin runs faster than me
The only difference is, it is at a retreat
Away from the Lord
So mighty and strong
I asked, He provided
I said I was wrong
He forgave me the second I asked for it
He never thought twice
He didn’t have to think the tiniest bit
Of whether or not to forgive his son
He did it before I could count to one
I’m no longer running
But walking the road
That leads to heaven
Where do you want to go?
Do you want to spend your life running from sin?
Or would you rather find comfort that comes from deep within?
Would you rather travel the highway to hell?
Or spend life listening to angels play their bells

The choice will always come down to you
You can do whatever you want to do
I am just saying walking is better
Than running toward something
You’ll never find
Toward something that only lives in your mind
If you would like to turn from sin
Just ask me
I’ll tell you again and again
Ask the Lord Jesus to enter you heart
And then after that you can finally start
A relationship with the creator of heaven and earth
You will be friends from the second of your rebirth
Not literally speaking of coarse
But more like a colt turns into a horse
You will mature and grow in the Lord
You will never ever get bored
Of listening to songs that praise His name
You will stand in awe as He heals the lame
He is a mighty, powerful, king
King over them all
We, one day will sing
So join me now in rejoicing His name
For Jesus Christ will forever reign.
