The Search

Topic: DarkPoetry

Darkest night has rolled in
on a chariot that would kill a mortal if ridden
swiftly all traces of the day's growth are hidden
I am awake thinking of my unpardonable sin

She is there as she always is my guardian angel
wings folded gracefully behind her back
she unfurls them now and then revealing strength and color that is blue-black
impatent to find yet another vile victim to dangle

Tonight there will be no search for villainous prey
only madness coupled with bitter tears
I haven't felt this empty kind of lonely in hundreds of years
it is so complete in it's control I seek mercy and begin to pray

to the gods and goddess of my pagan past
before I took the lives of those tainted who my youth
back to the time before my hands became covered with the blood of the uncouth
my time of reckoning has come fast

realization hits with such velocity it shakes my dusty soul
my quest at that moment did began to find the one
a companion who would out live the last the horrid deeds to be done
a knight who'd bring forth day and night as well as such things only god can know.
