I Did What I Had To Do
August 25, 2004
In that moment when
Your life is going to end
You have to stand up and defend
Or never see your family again
That's what I did
He was coming at me
I had no time for reacting
I was struck by the first swing
He didn't hear my plea
Only took advantage of me
His hands around my throat
Tightening, making my vision darker
The pain lessened, I began to float
The reality becoming starker
But I caught a glance of his face and...
Instinct replaced surrender
No time to think, only act
On what I saw as my last defender
The blade of steel, the impact
I did what I had to do
