Slowly

Contributed by fastpitchqt on Thursday, 26th August 2004 @ 07:10:00 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

Questions were still left unanswered
Words were finally said
My memory of you is slowly fading
Slowly, I’m letting you go

Your picture is getting fuzzy now
It’s hard for me to see
The memories are scattering about
Slowly, you’re slipping away

The love is still there
It will always be buried deep in my heart
The pain has finally subsided
Slowly, you’re disappearing now

The tears have dried up and stopped falling down my cheeks
My nights aren’t sleepless anymore
My smile has returned to my face
Slowly, you’re fading away

My happiness has returned
Someone has come to take your place
To make everything happy again like it used to be
Slowly, I’m setting you free

I’ve moved onto bigger and better things
I no longer think about you night and day
I no longer will wait for you to come back to me
Slowly, the burden is lighting up and you’re almost gone

I threw away the calendar
That I kept track of how long you’ve been gone
I tucked away those pictures
Slowly, your memories are being hidden

Day by day passes
I grow happier and stronger too
I moved on with my life
I have finally let you go!!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
