Reminder of a lost today

Contributed by puppy_dog_eyes on Thursday, 26th August 2004 @ 06:49:40 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Dark sky sipped light from the moon
Photograph in hand he stood, silent silhouette by the bay
The heat of summer night could not pierce the chill of his heart
The blanket of despair still covering his mind

Hours had raced as he wandered by the shore
As day turned to dusk, dreams turned to dust
Bound by pride he had let her walk away
Tormenting minutes ticked, kicks hard to the soul

Was a fool made in the silence ?, the words it replaced
I love you perhaps too big a step, a vulnerable leap
Doubt stole victory, opportunity wilted to a kiss
Was this the end of hope ?, was it never to awake ?

Decision stirred the troubled heart
On her wings he raced, took flight
To another flight only minutes away
One way this night would last for eternity

Gate 42 lay empty, except for a broken heart
Too late to realise what should have been
Each tomorrow would always be a photograph
A reminder of a lost today.

Oh My Steve, this is so sad, and regretful! How many times we turn around and find they are gone.........why did we let them go?
Lament the time and the hour......but they are gone now for all etenity!
Very deep feelings for me, and I know for you!
Wish we could turn the clock back and relive moments.......too late.........all gone!
Poetic hugs to console your sadness

Gosh... this tugs at my heart. It is impossible to know, of course, what would have happened if the moment had been different. Many of us know... how impossibly hard that is to live with sometimes.

I am just discoverying your work... but I am drawn in. I will be reading more...

Well done!
