How contrasting the leaf...

How contrasting the leaf,
one side rough and stubborn,
the other smooth and elegant,
the way nature balances the
Yin and Yang.
(as two lovers that clash or
a emperor to his kingdom)

An eloquent statement of duality--a concept which pervades the world's literature, but is rarely presented so concisely. How lovely it is that such examples as your leaf may be so readily apprehended! The final two lines provide a delectable icing, for it is here that the larger theme emerges: that these forces, interacting, contrasting, and balancing, are indeed universal, caring neither for status nor the heart's affection.
A great effort. Thanks! -KAC- |

Though I'm sure there are examples everywhere... the leaf is a rather eloquent choice. This one got my mind turning. There's contrast even within constrasting, if you know what I mean --- the Yin and Yang are presumably a good thing, lovers clashing - presumably not.
I'm unresolved about the emperor though.... were this mine, I would have left off with the lovers I think (but then, that's classic me... thinking more of lovers and less of emporers and such most often).
Concise and yet profound - a difficult combination to achieve. I, personally, can't seem to manage it well. YOU did a fine job!
Preferring to be seen as smooth and elegant and not rough and stubborn
