Letters to Love
August 24, 2004

Dear Stranger,
I saw you, apart from the crowd,
Heard myself talking with you aloud.
Since that moment I still think of you,
Always swimming into my mind,
Every time, I turn around.
Waiting to see you,
And be found…

Dear Attraction,
This infatuation, I had not expected,
Not sure if this is real, a connection?
How you captured me in your way,
Makes me wonder if you will stay,
Show me when…

Dear Love,
You have me completely wrapped up,
Unable to think, unable to reason,
But I cannot complain.
Love, how can I thank you?
For all that you have given me,
I’ll never know…

Dear Lie,
You made me hurt, deep inside,
And now I resent every tear that I cry.
Thinking I should have known,
But how could I have seen?
Knowing now my trust will be rare,
Every time to this feeling I get near.

Dear Breakup,
You have replaced my hurt with anger,
Red and firing through.
The need to hate, the stranger,
And how I feel about you,
Well I can be glad it’s over,
And thank you for that, but…

Dear Love,
I miss you. I remember when,
There was a time I held you close.
I remember what had been,
What I wanted most.
Now I wonder if I will know you soon again,
Until then…

Dear Forgiving,
Do you know what you make me feel?
Like a diamond in my broken heart,
Shining brighter every day.
Thinking I should take that shine,
And let it rest outside my mind.
But taking that first step towards you,
I don’t know if I can do…

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
