In the heat of the night,
She tosses in her sleep,
remembering the times,
you told her she'd be the one you keep.
You told her that you'd never leave,
that you'd be there when she awoke,
but then you left her all alone,
why all the lies you spoke?
She knows not that you have gone,
Nor when you will be back,
And her dreams are filled with thoughts of you,
And the commitment that you lack.
Her face is red, all glistened with sweat,
her breath is slow and deep,
How could you leave her all alone,
when she is fast asleep?
When she wakes up, what will she see?
Will she cry out your name?
Will she see all the things you could have done,
before you caused her so much pain?
In the heat of the night,
while she was fast asleep,
you dressed quickly into your jeans,
and out of her life, you did creep!
