Quitting Time

The clock laughs
refusing to move faster.
Just sit counting minutes
and await the release of the master.
Five o''clock, quitting time!
Shed the shirt and Armani neck noose.
Time to leave for I''ve served my time
and the warden must cut me loose.
Punch the clock and flick off the lot,
no longer must I heed your call.
One day soon I''ll leave for good!
See what''s beyond the Retail Wall.
For now; temporary relief will do,
my 1.5 rolled, realized wish.
It helps me inhale my smile
and exhale my mental anguish.
Some would call me crazy.
Some day I''ll make them believe
that the time I like the best at work
is when I''m taking the time to leave!
For tomorrow is another day!
and I just may make a dime
but rest assured you''ll find a frown on my face.
Until my quitting time!
