( I read to my 9yr old daughter, my poem called "I Once Named a Dragon", She begged me not to let the story end there)
My mother Dragon called on me
And asked if I would like to see
This beautiful world in which I live
From another perspective
For to a Dragon, you don't say no
I told her yes of course I'd go
Her neck she lowered down to me
And I climbed up quite carefully
I nestled in and settled back
Quite comfortably secure in fact
She spread her wings, leapt to the air
The wind swept back and tussled my hair
Well, Mount Olympia was quite near
Where Artesians used to make their beer
T'was such a great and lovely sight
Snow glistening in morning light
We then flew over Puget Sound
Where monstrous ferries do abound
These ferries are an oddly sort
For back and forth they do cavort
They eat cars whole, then swim about
Across the water they spit them out
~ A note to self, within my mind
Must ask Bernard if he's seen their kind
And shouldn't the Fairy Queen use her power
To make them first wait half an hour
Swimming after eating so
Is bad for them as they should know ~
Back towards my house around midday
We circled, watching Orcas play
Our flight was such fantastic fun
So sad was I, when it was done
Well, when we finally parted ways
I told her I would count the days
Untill she came again to call
"Prepare" said she, "For the Winged Creatures Ball"

This was quite enjoyable. I think Bernard would love it. I am going to save it and read it to my grandchildren. They love the stories I save them from here to read to them at bedtime when they visit. Thank you for sharing this.

Well done Naz this is really after my heart. a good story with a modern trace and yes I have seen those ferries they go every day between Dover and Calais also Dover Ostended in Belgium. It takes very little time before the cars and lorries they are all spat out on to dry ground. By the way I love dragons. bernard. |

Delightful and creative. I think it would be neat to write some poems that I could read to our grandchildren.
Enjoyed

Awww! Sweet Naz, this captured my heart and brought out the child in me, in which I thought left me long ago! Such a sweet story! It'd be a wonderful Children's Poem/Story! I truly love this piece! Excellent rhyming and beautiful words! I gather your little treasure loved it! Once again, perfect and enthralling till the end! I felt like I was set in a fantasy world, with dragons and unicorns! Beautiful world you have shown me! Thank you so much. All my love to you and the family! Forever yours,
Votre fleur de souffrance |
