SERENITY

Contributed by Willofree on Monday, 23rd August 2004 @ 01:55:41 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Oh what a wondrous thing it would be
To achieve an ongoing sense of serenity
No worries to trouble or ponder
Nothing sinister on the horizon over yonder
Just an ongoing state of bliss
But how realistic is it really to achieve this

Imagine how wonderful it would be
To live in a state of perfect harmony
That would be like heaven on earth
Not something that we have experienced since birth
Maybe we do not look in the right places
As the expression seems to be missing from our faces

Such an easy life it would be
If we could achieve a state of ecstasy
A life free from violence and fear
No lack of tranquillity would there be here
Just a constant state of bliss
That would provide perfect happiness

Sin and guilt would be a thing of the past
But then, how long would it last
Before our mood would again revert
Back to a time when we felt sad and hurt
But perhaps reality is not so bad
When we stop to think about all that we have

So maybe serenity is very difficult to achieve
Even if it is for a brief reprieve
For feeling joyous all the time
Is not something that can be yours or mine
It is something that can be a gift you see
One from our heavenly Father to you and me

So do not despair over the fact of life
That there is bound to be struggle and strife
Rather have courage for to see
That life's misery is only temporary
As our Lord and Savior will be
There at the designated time to set us free

Very nice. The last stanzas are great. And it is true, we won't be able to achieve absolute serenity here on earth, but the more in tune to the Savior, the closer you can come to it. Oh, and the freedom wouldn't be near as great if life here was not so tough. I thought this was written with such a positive perspective, one which I really appreciate. But I think that the Bible clearly teaches us to look at trials and such as positive, growing tools. So, make sure that you don't get too caught up in waiting for the next world, while God put you in this world for a specific reason. Very encouraging write. I enjoyed it.
