Recognizable Radiance

Contributed by liquidsunshine on Sunday, 22nd August 2004 @ 05:47:07 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

As a flower finally blooming
No longer a budding leaflet

Yet, scarce a soul bends to be near the fragrance
A meager few turn to take a glimpse of the glory

As a rainbow arching across a cloudless sky
No longer peering out meekly from behind the dreary grays

And oh so slight are they that crane their necks to the heavens
That though that rainbow shines with all her might her colors seem simply faded

A watercolor painting hung low on some back wall
A multicolor masterpiece that no one sees at all

A sunrise shining bright in attempts to wake a nocturnal napper
Its efforts for precious beauty waste away uselessly on the indifferent

So shall we neglect the magnificence of these marvels
So shall we soon see

A wilted flower…
A colorless sky…
A tattered canvas…
A sunless morn…

Lest we should learn to look with love

i love ths poem. I do beelieve tthat the world focuses too much on itseelf rather than thee beeauty in it. If any beauty is recognized iit is usually the most fake and ugly of aall truly. My poem is about that in a differentt way. Read it if yoou're interested..it's called ill-fated lovers' intentions. eenjooy annd please comment if you read. keep up the greeat wriitiing...excuse thee bad keyboard..

That was amazing, I loved it completely. I agree that no one takes enough time to appreciate all the beautiful things around us. Once on a track trip we passed a double rainbow and we could see the area where it was touching the ground and I was the only one who watched it constantly, craning my neck to not lose sight of it.

Qow, yeah, I just loved that because it rings so true.

Take time to smell the roses??? Absolutely we should. We are all rushing through life so fast and miss the beautiful important parts that could affect us in such soothing caring ways. Great write.

Hugs,
Rita

I'd just like to comment to everyone that yes, this poem is about "stopping to smell the roses" but more importantly it's about noticing the little things that people do for you because they maybe aren't so little at all. Learn to appreciate and love everyone dear to you with all your heart.
That's all I got.

Lots of love and peace be with you,

Chelsea

Ah, so I did understand it aright!

Splendid language and imagery here. Bravo! And may we all come to understand its message, not with our heads but with our hearts.

Ah, the lessons He paints for us so vividly, and we so nearsighted and preoccupied. A beautiful write. Remember, He sees each masterpiece. He created each masterpiece of humanity.

A heart of gold you have. I completely agree with your comment, too. That's totally what I got out of it. I hate how everyone takes all of the little blessings, gifts, and glories for granted. It's encouraging to know that you are alive enough to care about "smelling the roses." You're a great girl.
