Never Said Hello
August 20, 2004

I will get your permission,
To attend your funeral.
And I shall hope,
That you will ask,
To be a part of mine.
Because how do you say goodbye,
To someone you never said hello to?
The reason I want you to know,
That I would love for you to come,
Is to field those who haven’t been.

If you haven’t been a part of my life,
Don’t be a part of my death.
If you never smiled at me in life,
Don’t cry at me in death.
Because how do you say goodbye,
To someone you never said hello to?
And put my family through the question,
As to why they have to share,
My last memory to make with them,
With someone who wasn’t there.

I never said hello to you,
I cannot say goodbye.
Don’t leave me with this feeling,
Of being unjustified.
For I loved you in my heart of hearts,
And never let you know.
I won’t let you leave me now this way,
Before I get the chance to say,
Hello.
