The girl caught the cab on the
Rainy summer day
She watched the droplets
Of water
Race down the windows
And reflect the yellow
Taxicabs’
Color
She rode it to the corner
Of 9th and
10th
And paid the man his
Worthy dues
She was coming home
From the funeral of a
Man
She did not know
That’s why her house stood
Dry
In the rain storm
That’s why the sunshine
Warmed her back
Everywhere
She went
She smiled at the homeless
And
Talked to the solicitors
She rode the ocean waves
And
Built sand castles on the hot beach
She was an image
Of morality
Sent from god
But it seems that
Nobody
Caught on
