LINGERE

Contributed by Willofree on Friday, 20th August 2004 @ 11:06:05 AM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

Oh why Lord do I linger so
As I find to purpose you know
All I ponder is what I've lost and dwell
On the you'se - ta - coulds and can't - no -mores I recall so well
But nothing present is fun for me
As I can no longer hear or see

Well dear Grandma my gift to thee
Is for you to ponder Me
For in my presence all makes sense
As I am the way to eventual peace and rest
So worry not about life as is
Rather the promise of what to come is His

The glory and promise that awaits you dear
Is His peace and love so have no fear
In Heaven all suffering is left behind
And a glorious reunion you will find
So worry not about what's missing today
For tomorrow all the answers will come your way

Why me, you ask me again and again
But no answer comes from within
Perhaps you need to accept
That there are always secrets that are kept
So trust in me that your time will come you see
But dear grandma a surprise it be from Thou to Thee

The fourth line is cute but doesn't fit the flow of the rest of the poem. Maybe if it were ( with your permission ) shortened to "On the you'se - ta - coulds I recall so well " ... It seems more even like that.

The only change I would make how ever.
Well done in my opinion

I hope grandma has been called home and feels the personel love of God first hand.
I'm sure now she will understand her purpose of such a long life and know that God gives us no more than we can bare.
Good poem on a hard subject to write about.
