Creature beneath the Clouds

Contributed by Ethereal_Engine on Friday, 20th August 2004 @ 08:24:25 AM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

Transformation an evolution into something other then what the creature once was. Limbs twisting shapes gaining new joints and extra claws. Growing a fine silky coat. Millions of hairs many inches long and softer then any fabric material or fur ever seen in the two universes. Tinted a glossy golden hue that shimmers in the reflected light of the moon. Upon its back the hairs turn deep abysmal black in a stripe along its spine. When there once was four legs there now is nine double jointed and strong being able to leap great heights and run like the demonic beasts from the fiery chasm shrouded in flame and burning eternal. A single tail split in two trailing long strands of blackened fur like the great dresses of royal queens. The pads on its feet become soft where they were once hard. Soft but resilient elastic in nature being able hold its young tenderly with no rough edges. Upon its nine legs its toes count seven. Slightly shorter then human hands with less joints they can grasp most objects with ease and open any door that blocks their way. Upon each toe retractable claws razor bladed almost steel in composition kill with out troubles. Two eyes become six, sharp and farsighted beyond the measure of any keen eyed owl or stalking cat. In many directions it can see at once at different distances at all who approach. At night it can see best penetrating the thick darkness seeing farther and clearer then it could ever wish during daylight hours. For every eye there are two horns running along its muzzle and three upon its head. Its sharpest teeth elongate to unmatched precision having an edge that can slice through the toughest of hides. Its dullest teeth become flattened much like molars and its tongue gains thickness to allow speech. The creature’s brain expands to fill its larger skull becoming wise and gaining human emotion. Pointed ears like shepherd and wolf catch sounds in frequencies deeper then the silence of the oceans and louder then sounds that shatter glass. Its sensitive nose can smell blood like a shark and catch the scent of a human many miles away. It resides in dark places beneath the white cites that hover in the clouds. It has seen the deepest depths of the Earth and climbed to the utmost height seeing the stars in truer form then any other point on the planet. It is elusive and crafty keeping itself hidden from murderous eyes of destructive beings who wish its death for no other reason then the fact that it is alive. It exists in a world forgotten by time following an evolutionary path apart from all others.
