The Great Odyssey...

Drunken and spent,
The poet sits…
The world is now a wasteland,
Full of Death’s arid stench…
Fate is merciless, and there is no hope for the rest of us…
And the ancient candle performs “Guess this shadow” upon the molding walls…
Having no company, but his thoughts,
His endless, morbid thoughts…
The poet picks up the dusty pen,
And begins to write…
An ebony stream of words flowed through,
And they played along the white plains…
He wrote about life, faith, love, death…
And as he kept writing, his words became darker and darker…
Expressions of lost hope, devoid of love, abandoned faith for Him…
And tears sprung to his weary eyes,
Surprise blanketing him for he hasn’t cried since it all began…
And the world flooded over once more….
She came at last,
This wonderful darkness that consumed him whole…
His Muse…
Sweet, blissful Night…
Night, that would always come for him, embrace him, inspire him…
The graceless moon smiled,
Spreading her pallid blood through the window,
His only source of viewing the world,
Out of his confinements,
These four profound barriers that he also built around his heart…
And in the far distance,
A sad song coursed through the ash-infested air…
Sorrow sighed, and the eyes drowned in tears of melted memories…
Out of curiosity, and boredom,
He walked through the mouth of the house,
And began to stroll across Fatality’s plains…
He was met by a forked road,
Seemingly endless...
Confused and afraid,
The poet stood in the middle of the forked road,
And tried so hard to decide which one to choose...
He looked down one road,
And saw green pastures,
Fruitful trees,
A beautiful day in paradise...
He peered down the middle road,
And what laid before him,
Was Death itself...
Surrounded by dark, menacing clouds,
Bare trees, and hungry vultures, soaring the black skies...
The last one,
Was just an ordinary path...
It had its cracks and flaws, as do all things...
Less trod upon and harmless to the eye,
Curiousity engulfed the poet whole,
And so he walked that long path...
Without a worry, without a doubt...
Nothing crossing his mind, except his goal to walk swiftly through...
He looked to the darkening skies,
And prayed to God for Him to aid his way...
To bring him back in the right direction if lost...
The Lord heard his prayer that day,
Coming along side him,
Entering his repented heart,
Taking his scarred hand,
And leading the way to his great odyssey...

As if a widow to an alternate reality opened and showed you the secrets of my soul ... I was so deeply engrossed reading the story of my own existance that I nearly cried out when the story ended. You my dear, are indeed a true minstrel. A Bard of, and for the ages.
