Lonely girls muse

Contributed by lostinmyself on Tuesday, 17th August 2004 @ 06:31:16 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I tried to understand myself today,
Perhaps be able to turn my fears away,
Turn the hopelessness into happiness,
But in the end it was all an unfair dream...

...And I wake up to reality and scream...

Loneliness consumes me,
Hungering for another person to leave my side,
While I want to be the one to turn away,
Leave behind this heart, this skin,
Be free....

...And watch myself slip away...

Trust betray's me,
Following down the corridor you took when you left my side,
But I blamed myself for your shortcomings,
And never trusted myself again...

...Because I chased you away...

I blame myself,
For all the things I never did,
And for all times I didnt make it better for myself,
And for you...
But i know it will be better someday...

...It has to be...

And I know myself,
I know that this is just a passing day,
And tommorow may be the same,
But it may be different too,
These feelings will just be yesterdays news,
Just thrown away...

...But they will always lay in wait,
For a time of loneliness like this,
When i have no one to talk to...

Lonely girls muse...

"Loneliness consumes me,
Hungering for another person to leave my side,"

I think you echo the universal poem of loneliness, with delicate phrasing. May tomorrow be different for you . . .

Wow! This was powerful. You've said so much here. I don't know which to applaude more---the poem or the person. BRAVO for both!

This feels like one of those middle of the night moments when you find yourself with only yourself and you can't help but listen... and see... what gets overshadowed during the day. Everyone that has known loneliness will find something of themselves in this, I suspect... I know I did.

...And watch myself slip away...

This grabbed me exactly the same way that a line in Neptune's "Numb" did.... it's a powerful, poignant statement. Those five words alone are worth five starts.

This is.... the heart of a poet, I think

I love the formatting of this poem, and phil? I can really relate to this at this time. Seems life and loneliness go hand in hand. Be well my friend, brighter days are around the corner.
Angel always...joni

Aww... Phil, this is sad! But I know those feelings. Hope they fade away soon, and something great takes their place.
Blessings as ever.

A powerful statement, made me think about the many times I have felt this way too. No doubt it is part of human nature to experience such feelings as it seems universal. Well done, excellent write.
