What Was Once Hidden

At first my depression & anger were hidden,
As I didn’t think that they could be forgiven,
I swallowed them so deep down inside,
I had so many feelings that I chose to hide.
For awhile it was fairly easy for me to do,
Because you didn’t know me & I didn’t know you,
But as time went by & we became close,
It was easier for you to make out my ghosts.
I confessed all to you hoping you wouldn’t leave,
When you didn’t I really couldn’t believe,
I thought that you were just playing a game,
That you were giving love a very bad name.
I learnt to trust you & let down my stone wall,
As I felt myself slowly but surely fall,
Into a deep & meaningful love with a stranger,
Who seemed to care & keep me safe from danger.
The months ticked by & our love became solid,
I now have no more of my past skeletons to bid,
In you I confide every last one of my feelings,
Chapter, verse & all of their meanings.
I am so glad that I found someone I could trust,
As that in any relationship is a very big must,
To hide things from you played havoc with my heart,
But I was afraid if you knew then we would surely part.
A weight was lifted from up off my shoulders,
Felt like I had finally let go of two big boulders,
When I found the strength to tell you of my life story,
In all it’s shame, never in any hope & glory.
