Smile, but look away

I hear the news and smile,
but look away,
as a tear slowly forms,
in the corner of my eye,
can't let them see my sadness,
my pain,locked and hid away,
so nobody can see the real me,
they would never understand,
would they,
how badly I long,
for the one thing I can never be,
a mother,
is all I want to be,
to have a child of my own,
to love and cherish,
to be called mum,
would be the best sound in the world.

A heartfelt lament. A tear forms in my eye from reading these words. I am reminded of the things I occaisionally take for granted, and forgotten blessings in my life. Thank you. My heart is drawn out towards you.
