Poisoned Mind

Contributed by pixie on Monday, 16th August 2004 @ 01:13:27 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Depression is a poison of the mind,
Can render your soul totally blind,
No longer able to live your life,
Without falling onto the bloodthirsty knife.

It is far more deadly that strychnine or arsenic,
This sets off your bomb at a steady tick,
Ever ready to go off any time of day,
This is a waiting game you don’t want to play.

Mind is like a never ending maze,
Thoughts trapped in a world of haze,
Once this evil Pandora’s Box has been unlocked,
There is no way that this torment can be stopped.

Feel like I am surrounded by mirrors & smoke,
All my fears & hurt is causing me to choke,
Breathing is becoming too hard,
Stuck in my skin I feel all the shards.

It is unknown, the one & only cure,
I just can’t seem to shut this heavy door,
Backwards & forwards forever it swings,
With no warning of all the heartache is brings.

My head feels like it’s about to explode,
It just can not handle such a heavy load,
I crawl about on my bare hands & knees,
End my torment someone please!

I find in this a very good description of depression. For me the only cure was to find what I love and *just do it* - in my case, poetry. My best to you in dealing with this affliction. Hugs!

hello, i liked your poem alot, it is wonderfully written, and i just have to say that you have to find anything that makes you happy, and do your best to concentrate on that one thing, doing it, thinking of it, whatever you can do, and dont give in, my friends are my cure for depression, either that or i watch a good movie or play a good video game, they all help to relieve my mind of its burdenous load,

wish you the best of luck
