ARC OF THE COVENANT

King David danced before the prize less box,
He danced and leaped,- the king was jubilant,-
The wind carressed his linen dress and locks,
And breathed above the Arc - the Covenant. -
To be transferred in great solemnity
With songs of praise to where he'd pitched its tent,
The Arc of Covenant - the guarantee
of high election, firm and permanent.
Musicians played choice psalms while singers sang
Around the Arc as people moved along,
While harps and cymbals trilled and trumpets rang
And worshippers, enthralled, broke out in song.
Firm contract with the Lord, - the guarantee,
And certainty He would direct their lot.
As they recalled the great benignity
And wondrous works performed for them by God.
But woe! the sacred treasure disappeared,
It vanished, lost to the Elected's sight.
Until at Nazareth a humble maid was reared,
The handmaid of the Lord and His delight.
In her He wished to dwell as tent and shrine,
The perfect tent, the one the Lord saw fit,
To shelter Him, in which He would recline
And slowly take on human flesh in it.
In her the content of the box grew up,
The seed divine turned flesh within her womb,
To nourish mankind with enduring sap
That overcame the sting of death and tomb.
As mother of her cherished children, she
First taken up in flesh - flesh glorified,
Does teach her children the reality
Of Father's love and power infinite.

| I'm not a fan of religious or indeed spiritual poetry, yet this was startilingly good (excuse spellin typo if any) and was enjoyable to read, as it told a story, and it read brillianty. A laudable write. |

I enjoyed your fine poem, and the pics are great!
If I might just mention one teensy-tiny little error;
you've used the wrong arc.
When describing a chest where the Torah is contained,
it's spelled ark
Don't mean to nitpic.*g*

Dear ED,
Your images are marvelous, and although I'm not aware of what you speak, I can certainly be appreciative of the way you put it down in beautiful Poetry. If your readers would realize that you speak another language, then the words such as Arc would pose no problem, you may use either Ark, or Arc......is prefectly acceptable to all!
Yes, the Arc of the Covenant was very special indeed, one man lost his life instantly,
for trying to right it as it started to fall.....God had warned......do not touch! Only the high priest was allowed in the Holy of Holies!
My how I enjoy your knowledge, even if I've not be taught along the same lines!
